Innovation & die grauen Zellen
…the other day I wrote to you about the potential dangers of environmental toxins. So let’s focus on certain environmental toxins. There are many:
1. Lead
2. Aluminum, which is quite a bad one
3. Pesticides, herbicides and fungicides. Used in food production and also dangerous
4. And finally, BPA as found in plastics, which I want to share today.
All of these toxins may have a direct effect on your brain and weirdly injure your gut as well, causing what we call „leaky gut syndrome.“
But the effects on your brain are paramount!
The main reason I’m interested in talking about BPA now is that I just saw a full page ad in USA Today by the American Chemistry Council touting how safe it was, adding that BPA is safe and has „no health risk to consumers of any age.“
That really got my attention. .
BPA stands for Bisphenol A, an industrial chemical that has been used to make certain plastics and resins since the 1960s.
BPA is found in polycarbonate plastics and epoxy resins. Polycarbonate plastics are often used in containers that store food and beverages, such as water bottles. They may also be used in other consumer goods.
Epoxy resins are used to coat the inside of metal products, such as food cans, bottle tops and water supply lines. Some dental sealants and composites also may contain BPA.
According to one authority at The Mayo Clinic:
„Some research has shown that BPA can seep into food or beverages from containers that are made with BPA. Exposure to BPA is a concern because of possible health effects of BPA on your brain and your behavior.“
So, if you’re concerned about BPA, you can take these steps to reduce your exposure:
• Seek out BPA-free products.
• Cut back on cans.
• Avoid heat. Don’t microwave polycarbonate plastics or put them in the dishwasher,
• Use alternatives. Use glass, porcelain or stainless steel containers for hot foods and liquids, instead of plastic containers…
Ja ich schätze, da sollte man darüber nachdenken … wenn das ein Amerikaner sagt überhaupt.
Viel Erfolg
